About Us

Hello. My name is Robert Bishop, founder and owner of Blowin' Smoke BBQ. I worked in the construction industry while forming a two-man BBQ competition team in Kansas City, MO back in 1994. After taking second place in just our third big contest we began catering small birthday parties, anniversaries, weddings, etc. on a part time basis (considering the large number of BBQ caterers in K.C). After nearly 13 years of catering, competitions, and nearly 180 ribbons, I decided to leave the construction field and pursue my passion of cooking. In 2007 I moved to Madison, WI to attend Madison College's culinary arts program, graduating in 2009.

One of the things that sets us apart from the rest are our 2 custom built smokers. Both smokers have a bottom mount fire box. With this design, it is not necessary to have an extremely hot fire, rather a smoldering, smoky fire allows the meat to reap the benefits of the flavor of the burning wood. Secondly, we use all of our own recipes, dry rubs, and sauces. We treat all the food items as if we were preparing them for competition. Put the two together, and you have the most mouthwatering and flavorful barbecue ever.

Our goal is to provide a quality product, using quality ingredients at an affordable price, while demonstrating superior customer service.

Blowin' Smoke Barbecue is family-owned and operated right here in Waunakee, WI. Since our company opened its doors in 1995, we've treated every customer like they were a part of our family. Other companies may offer similar services, but our services are the best and come with a personal touch.
